For parents & caregivers

Egg is a safe community platform built with purpose

Creators, not couch scrollers. Guided sessions, creative challenges, and live showcases—kids build skills, share their work, and connect with other makers in a moderated space.

What kids actually do here

Make things, not just watch

Members work through creative challenges across digital subjects, build a personal space that grows into a studio, and earn virtual devices (like a radio or camera) as they pick up new skills — then use that gear to create media inside the world.

There’s a daily community showcase where creators can present what they’ve made. The live side also includes voice chat, clubs, events, and interest-led hangouts — all in a structured, moderated environment.

You stay informed

After time in the community, families get clear context on progress — milestones and session summaries in plain language, without hovering over every message.

Quick facts

  • Ages: 10 years and older.
  • Where: Online — Egg runs in our web platform (egg.ac). Sessions and community time are facilitated remotely.
  • Focus: Creative expression and community — we’re not positioning Egg as tutoring or a school product.
  • Try it: Creators can start free with challenges and studio progression; the full live world (voice, clubs, showcase, etc.) is a paid pass (about $1/day — billing may show as a weekly or monthly total in the app).

Safety & moderation

  • We actively moderate to keep language and content appropriate for the community.
  • We don’t use students’ full names online for privacy.
  • Behaviour expectations are clear; we can share our behaviour plan on request.
  • Group sessions are kept to a manageable size with facilitator support; there are quieter spaces if someone needs a break.

Typical joining path

  1. Register interest — Parent/caregiver details on our site or through the team.
  2. Short check-in — A brief online hello with Egg staff, with a parent or caregiver present, so everyone knows what Egg is and whether it’s a fit.
  3. Recommendations — We suggest creative directions based on interests.
  4. Start when ready — Creators begin using the platform on a schedule that works for your family.

Live community hours have historically centred on weekday afternoons (e.g. 4–6pm Mon–Fri NZ time); confirm current times in the app or with the team.

What your child needs

Most experiences need a computer or laptop, mouse, microphone, headphones (for clearer audio and less echo), and reliable internet. Chromebooks are fine for many starter and intermediate activities.

Rough guide: ChromeOS / Windows 10+ / macOS, 4GB+ RAM, and a GPU with ~1GB VRAM for heavier creative work. We can sanity-check setup during check-in.
