Starter Course questions

If you have any further questions, email us at welcome@eggacademy.co.nz or visit our contact page.

What does the Starter Course cost?
$249 + GST for the 10-week Egg-Xplore programme. Ongoing Community Access membership is $40/month (GST inclusive) after the Starter Course. See membership.
What does facilitator-led mean?
A live facilitator runs sessions, sets weekly project tasks, and checks in with your teen -- it is guided making with human support, not a passive video course or learning alone.
How will I know what my teen is making?
Daily showcases in session, creative outputs shared with you, access to the cohort's work, and individual student reports at Week 2, Week 6, and Week 10.
When are Starter Course sessions?
Sessions run 4-6pm Monday to Thursday during an intake. We confirm the next intake date when you register.
What if we miss a week?
Educational content is available via video so students can catch up in their own time. Multiple timeslots may be available -- ask us about swapping if your schedule changes.
Can we try before we pay?
Yes. See observe a live session (Mon-Fri, 4-6pm NZ) and contact us -- we will help you get sorted. Cancel before the first two weeks for a full refund if it is not the right fit.
Is this right for an anxious teen?
Often yes. The Starter Course gives set tasks and small groups so creative time is not a blank canvas. Optional camera, quiet spaces, and facilitator check-ins help teens build confidence before full community participation. See help an anxious teen get started.
What software will they use this week?
Each Egg-Xplore week names a suggested app in the 10-week table on this page. Facilitators introduce the tool in session -- nobody is expected to already know it. Looking at next week's app ahead of time is optional and can help some families settle in.
What technology do we need?
A basic computer or laptop (Chromebooks OK), microphone, mouse, and reliable internet. We check tech during the student check-in.
Can we get a refund?
Yes. Cancel the Starter Course before your first two weeks for a full refund.
