Coding & storytelling for teens

Egg Academy teaches creative coding through live online sessions -- interactive stories, small apps, and digital projects for NZ teens.

Egg Academy teaches creative coding through live online sessions and project-based challenges - teens learn to build interactive stories and digital projects while sharing work with a like-minded creative community.

What teens learn in coding & storytelling

Creative coding at Egg Academy is hands-on from the start. During Egg-Xplore, teens sample coding through Sid's Trials - a short challenge focused on logic, interactivity, and a small story or app that works. As they progress, they can go deeper into:

  • Sequencing, variables, and cause-and-effect in digital projects
  • Interactive storytelling - choices, branches, and player or reader experience
  • Small apps, games, or tools that solve a creative problem
  • Feedback from facilitators and peers in live sessions

How coding & storytelling fits Egg Academy

Creative coding is part of our Tech curriculum quadrant - alongside game design and interactive media. Teens do not sit in a lecture; they make work, share it in the community, and build confidence over time. See the full curriculum & outcomes and the creator journey from first projects to specialisation.

Teens who love games, YouTube, or writing often enjoy this subject. If that sounds like your child, see Egg Academy for creators - written for teens exploring whether this is the right fit.
